In this project located in San Jose De las Matas, Dominican Republic, our task was to furnish the consciously spare rooms in a way that pieces would blend without disturbing the house’s fine lines and the integrated nature. Against the minimal backdrop of the architecture and nature’s topography, breathable fabrics like linens and leather add warmth, texture, and an occasional splash of muted earth colors. The interiors are a conversation between vintage and contemporary masters of design, and local techniques. Some of the most dramatic pieces we chose skirt the line between high design and fine local art. Ultimately, the entire house becomes an object lesson in the art of living well with beauty and understated comfort.
